Free software:

ccleaner is great for cleaning out all the garbage out of your pc. Its fast, simple and very user friendly one of my favs.

xentweak is one of my fav tweak utilities.I like It just for having Blackvipers patches for services which you cant find anymore.

avast, antivir and avg are hands down the best free antivirus out there, very low on resources and user friendly. Just as good as paid versions.

vlc player is the best media player for the simple fact it plays all formats no need to download codecs.

Daemon Tools is an image emulator for mounting cds/dvds , very good at what it does.

Audacity is great open source software for recording and editing sounds

Hijackthis recovers lost homepages hijacked by spyware and such. Great tool to have.

Spybot is best spyware cleaner for sure. I highly recommend downloading it along with adaware se I use both together.

Sygate Firewall is my personal fav for securing my pc from anything and everything. Zonealarm free is also great firewall to check out.

Microsoft powertoys has some good utilities like image resizer, tweakui, power calculator.
